The make happy club box #2 (WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Let me just start this months project reveal blog by saying a massive THANK YOU for the support that we had for subscription box #1 - I'm so grateful for your lovely messages and kind words! If you signed up at box #1 then your first box should be arriving this week so you can get started on your project really soon - I can't wait to see your makes! I've been hard at work planning out and perfecting the last little details for box #2 and I am so happy to be able to finally reveal to you what it is going to be....

For the 2nd Make Happy Club box I have been inspired by the magic powers that we all posess - the power to be ourselves unaplologetically! During the pandemic we have seen the power of people - whether it be a friendly neighbour cheering up the street during lockdown, friends being daft over zoom calls, or the first hug in over a year with your loved ones! We all have people that we care about and love just because of how amazing and unique they are. But sometimes I think we can forget our own magic is strongest when we are comfortable in our own skin and are fully ourselves. By being yourself you share your true unique persepective with the world - yes not everybody will like it but thats fine! Not everybody likes the same flavour of crisps...we all have differeant tastes! I really wanted to share a project with you for box 2 that reminds you to unleash your inner superpowers and immerse yourself in being yourself! Because the world needs more of you! Our next stitching project will be embroidery. (The make happy club box will vary between cross stitch and embroidery each month) So for this new design I have included retro handwriting inspired by my love of roller derby and 70's fashion! The colours are vibrant and layered to create depth and they are then surrounded by a background of white stars, the effect is very retro and striking.

Embroidery if you haven't done it before is a fantastic needlepoint craft with lots of different stitches to learn - however for this project to keep things simple we will only be learning two simple stitches! If you have never tried embroidery before, this is the project to learn with! Once you have learnt the stitches needed following our photo instructions and video tutorial, then it is simply a case of following the pattern and watching the design come to life on your fabric. The pattern is already printed onto the fabric in this kit so it's easy to stitch along the design (a bit like colouring in but with thread instead!) And it comes with everything that you need to complete your design.

Once stitched this design will look perfect as a little accent of colour on a gallery wall, as a gift for a friend or hung up by your bedroom mirror!

Subscriptions open on the 1st of June 2021 and will then close on the 20th of June 2021 with the first box being sent out end of June ready for July!

Every month £3 from each box will be donated to a different charity and this month for any subscription sign ups in May we will be donating £3 for each Make Happy Club box sold to Bloody Good Period via the work for good platform.

Bloody Good Period are a small charity fighting for menstrual equality - they provide sanitary products to people who may struggle to recieve them such as refugees and the homeless. They also strive to provide menstrual eduction for those who are unable to access it. So if you choose to subscribe this month then you will be actively helping them to continue their fantastic work. Whilst also stitching something that will make you feel good too!
